All India Bar Exam 2013 Notifications | Date | Application Form




As per the new notifications from the Secretary, BAR Council of India, the All India Bar Council has been postponed to 9th December, 2013 due to unavoidable circumstances. For more information, the candidates should refer to the official website.
For all the law students graduating from the academic year of 2012 – 13 onwards, the first All India Bar Examination has been made mandatory. The candidates may however, apply for the exam only after they have been enrolled as an advocate as per the Section 24 of the Advocates Act, 1961. The All India Bar Examination candidates would also have to submit a suitable proof of such enrolment. The exam will be conducted twice in a year in the months of April and November. The dates will be announced at the beginning of application process every year.
The exam will be held across the whole nation simultaneously for which the candidates can choose the centers of their choice. The last date for applying for the exam will be 5th of November, 2012.
The All India Bar Exam (AIBE) will be conducted in 9 languages – Kannada, Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Gujarati, Bengali, Marathi, English and Oriya. The AIBE candidates will also be given preparatory materials for the exam in the desired language.
The AIBE Application Fee is Rs. 1950/- and will include the cost of the preparatory materials. The advocates who are applying for the repeat attempts at AIBE will have to pay a Fee of Rs. 700/- which will not include the fee for the preparatory material.

The candidates can also apply for the exam online by CLICKING HERE. They will be given the facility to upload their signature, supporting documents and photograph.

AIBE Examination Fee:
  • For Fresh Candidates: the Exam fee for the candidates attempting the exam for the first time is Rs. 1900/- and an additional amount of Rs. 50/- for the bank processing.
  • Re – appearing Candidates: The candidates who are repeating the exam will have to pay a fee of Rs. 1400/- and an additional Rs. 50/- for bank processing.
The re – appear candidates have to submit their previous year’s roll number in order to appear for the exam.
The exam fee has to be deposited via the SBI Challan provided for the purpose by the BAR council of India at any SBI Bank Branch. The candidates can download the BANK CHALLAN HERE.
AIBE Exam Pattern:
The exam will have 100 MCQs from various subjects. The syllabus will be the one prescribed by the BAR Council of India for three year and five year LLB programmes. The subjects will be divided into two categories:
  • One those are considered foundational
  • The subjects which must be in the knowledge of a Lawyer.
The total duration of AIBE will be 3 hours and 30 minutes and will also have reasoning based questions. The candidates are allowed to bring any preparatory material, hand written notes, text books or any other printed material for help in the exam as AIBE is an OPEN BOOK test. However, the usage of any electronic gadgets radio etc is not allowed.
The result of the AIBE will just display whether the candidate has passed the exam or not. There will be no percentile, rankings, merit lists, percentage or marks.

There is no limit to the number of attempts for the All India Bar Exam and if any candidate is not able to clear the exam in first attempt, then he/she can re - appear. The successful candidates will be given a Certificate of Practice by the Bar Council of India.
